Series : Montreal as seen by...
In a casual setting, various Montreal public figures are invited to share their vision and passion for the Metropolis. It is a special opportunity for students from here and abroad to freely discuss with these agents of change who contribute to the development of Montr茅al. For the foodies: classic Montreal bagels with cream cheese are available for a quick bite! This bilingual lecture series is organized by the Quebec Studies Program and the Quebec Studies Students Association (QSSA) of 麻豆约拍, and supported by CIRM. These short lectures are open to all and offered five or six times a year, depending on the current program.

Food Justice in Montr茅al

A bilingual discussion on poverty and food insecurity in the city with Nathalie Bouchard, Executive Director of the Centre de ressources et d'action communautaire de La Petite-Patrie (CRACPP). Through its activities in food security and its fight against waste, this organization contributes to the improvement of living conditions of the members of its community and to the defense of fundamental human rights. Forced to stay at home, many city dwellers have traded in their foreign vacation packages for a home getaway. How do we redefine the tourism experience in times of pandemic? What was the impact of the health crisis on the tourism industry in Quebec and, more specifically, in Montreal?
Superdiversity in Canadian Cities
Lecture by Steven Vertovec and Daniel Hiebert, with contributions from Sandeep Agrawal (Edmonton), Bronwyn Bragg (Calgary) and Annick Germain (CIRM听/ INRS). Today's urban populations in Canada present changing combinations of nationalities, ethnic origins, languages, religions, ages, genders, legal status, classes and human capital. These changing combinations of demographic characteristics create conditions of "superdiversity," a concept that emphasizes that current patterns of diversity are substantially replacing those that once prevailed.

Researchers, public and private sector actors, and community workers are invited to discuss a recent publication (monograph, collective work, article, report, etc.) about Montreal or an urban theme relevant to the Montreal community. Each participant is invited to comment on the work based on his or her field of expertise or practice, while the author describes the genesis and purpose of the publication. This conference had the objective of bringing together researchers interested in the comic arts and their creators for discussions and presentations of research and field work on the theme of Shaking the Foundations. Mario Beaulac, professor in comic arts at the at Universit茅 du Qu茅bec en Outaouais, oversaw the event as scientific director.

Study day on the theme "Culture and Social Innovation Beyond Boundaries: From the Basque Country to Quebec" organized around two seminars and a conference by Mr. Juan Jos茅 Ibarretxe (Director, ). This day brought together members of CIRM and partner organizations, as well as representatives of and Agirre Lehendekaria Center.
