Program Description

The Graduate Certificate (Gr. Cert.) in Teaching English as a Second Language offered by the Department of Integrated Studies in Education in the Faculty of Education is a course-based program that emphasizes rigorous and career-focused learning opportunities. Our comprehensive and innovative program offers a specialized and practical curriculum designed to equip students with advanced skills in language education.

Unique Program Features

  • The part-time program is designed as professional development for in-service teachers and candidates with a background in education, language studies, linguistics, or a related field;
  • The five courses that comprise the certificate provide a solid background and offer in-depth study in the field of second-language education from a range of perspectives and with a focus on research and applications to teaching;
  • The first three courses are offered online whereas the final two courses are offered in-person and on-site at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ during an intensive Summer institute. The program can be completed within one year;
  • The program is designed to be available to students worldwide;
  • Please note that this certificate does not lead to teacher certification.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
