On December 9th, 2022, the School of Biomedical Sciences hosted a luncheon to celebrate the accomplishments of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ iGEM team, a group of undergraduate students, doing interdisciplinary research, whoΜύplaced in the top ten in the 2022 edition of the iGEM world-wide competition.
iGEM is an annual event where teams of students from around the world compete by bringing a synthetic biology project from concept to results. This year's iGEM team at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ placed in the top ten at the annual competition in Paris for their project "CoBiota." The team’s research focused on investigating a proactive probiotic to lower cholesterol, which could result in the prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD).
