OVERVIEW of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Chart of Accounts

The Chart of Accounts (CoA)Μύis the coding structure consisting of elementsΜύused to classify, record, budget and report financial transactions. There are six independent elements comprising the Chart of Accounts and the order in which they fall create the acronym "FOAPAL": An overview of each element is given in the table below.

A ACCOUNT Describes the nature of expenditures, revenues, assets, liabilities and fund balances. (6 characters, 2 levels of Type / 4 levels of code hierarchy) Travel expense, Tuition revenue, Accounts payable First digit

Chart code "1" represents the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ set of books, and defaults in when querying and posting transactions.
