How ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ’s Sustainability Projects Fund improved campus life over the past 15 years

Have you ever used one of ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ’s water-bottleΒ refill stations? Or visited theΒ Farmers Market, used aΒ compost bin, spotted a ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ-ownedΒ electric vehicle, or parked or repaired yourΒ bicycle?

Each of these campus initiatives was supported by theΒ Sustainability Projects FundΒ (SPF), celebrating its 15thΜύ²Ή²Τ²ΤΎ±±Ή±π°ω²υ²Ή°ω²β.

The SPF, founded by students in 2009, is the largest fund of its kind in Canada, allocating $12 million to more thanΒ 370 environmental projectsΒ so far.

These include theΒ ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Feeding ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔΒ project, which provides fresh produce from Macdonald Campus to ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ dining halls;Β , which grows food on the downtown campus; and theΒ Reusable Menstrual Product Initiative.

β€œThe Sustainability Project Fund has been an unequivocal success,” said Shona Watt, Associate Director of Operations and Engagement at the Office of Sustainability. β€œThe initiatives it has funded over the past 15 years have transformed our campuses for the better.”
