All library branches are now open for University business ONLY. The access to physical library spaces, on-site services & collections is limited to current 鶹Լ students, faculty, and staff.

Library Catalogue Links Downtime | September 11 from 8am to 4pm

Sixth floor of McLennan Library Building closed September 10
Please note that the sixth floor of the McLennan Library Building will be temporarily closed on Friday, September 10 from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM for safety reasons related to crane operations on McTavish and the west field. Please consult our branch listing for alternative locations.

Designated Conversation & Zoom Zones in Redpath & McLennan Library Buildings

Due to increased demand, conversation/ Zoom Zones were expanded in late September to include the main floors of the Redpath and McLennan Library Buildings in addition to the Cyberthèque.
First come, first served, earbuds/earphones are required.
Library building access for the start of the fall 2021 semester
Starting September 1, the Library will be open for University business ONLY.
Due to University directives, we will not be open to the general public at this time.
Access will be limited to current 鶹Լ students, faculty, and staff.

All Library services & most branches closed September 6 (Labour Day)
Please note that all Library branches except for the Humanities and Social Sciences Library and the Nahum Gelber Law Library will be closed on Monday, September 6 in observance of Labour Day.
The Humanities and Social Sciences Library (Redpath Library Building entrance) and Nahum Gelber Law Library will be open on September 6 from 10 amto midnight for study only.
HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service ends September 1
During the pandemic Library users have benefitted from the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS). With the opening of the Library for the fall term on September 1, access to the physical stacks will be reinstated and our agreement with Hathi Trust will come to an end.

The Librarycreated a detailedLibGuide that offersa helpful overview ofthe newly branded Sofia catalogue to the 鶹Լ community. It contains many helpful tricks for using the catalogueeffectively and is a great, bookmark-worthy resource.

Now Live: Renewed interface for Sofia
Sofia, 鶹Լ’s bilingual catalogue is evolving! As of July 14, you will be able to explore the new interface of Quebec university libraries’ discovery tool. This renewed interface is more user-friendly and offers several improvements:
- Redesigned ergonomics for smoother and more intuitive navigation
- New intelligent request processing feature that displays the document which is the easiest to access
- Search terms underlined in yellow

Please note that 鶹Լ Study Hubs, Library Pickup Service and Virtual Reference Service will not be available on Thursday, June 24 and Thursday, July 1 in observance of La fête nationale/Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day and Canada Day respectively.

New! Elsevier open access discount
As a part of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) negotiation, 鶹Լ Library is pleased to announce a new open access discount with Elsevier. 鶹Լ corresponding authors publishing in eligible Elsevier journals now have access to a20% discount on article processing charges(APCs). This is retroactive to articles submitted after January 1, 2021.
The Library’s RefWorks subscription discontinued effective Sept. 30
The 鶹Լ Library has discontinued its institutional subscription to RefWorks, effective September 30, 2021. If you are a current RefWorks user, you will need to migrate your references to another citation manager software by September 2021. It will take about 30 minutes to make the change.
